Spice Jar Label Organization

Hi everyone! I just finished an easy project that I have been wanting to complete for a while now. I am a liiiiittle OCD about most things, and the chaos that was my spice cabinet was becoming too much for me to handle. I have accumulated a bajillion spices of all different shapes, sizes, and brands, and I could just never find the one I needed.

I did some online hunting for some new spice jars, and I ended up buying these on WorldMarket.com. They are a perfect size. They are a little smaller than a brand new bottle of most spice jars, but that's okay. These are around $1 each.

I found these Martha Stewart Office labels at Staples, and they just so happened to fit perfectly. Like they were made for each other. I love it when that happens.

If I loved my handwriting, I could have just stopped there and free-hand the lettering on each label. But I knew I would not like the finished product, so I opted to print the labels. I opened up a good ol' Microsoft Word document and played around with spacing and printing until I could line up the titles within the labels.

After guessing at the spacing and sizing of the words, I printed the spice titles on on plain paper. After each try- I would hold up the paper to a light, with the labels behind it, and see how the spacing or sizing needed to be altered to fit inside the labels. Once I printed the spice titles on paper and knew it would fit on the labels, I taped the label sheet to that paper, lining up the words with the labels. (You can't really see the words through the labels in this picture, but I could when I held it up to a light.)

Then, I ran the paper with the labels through my printer. Voila!

I'm really glad I finally tackled this project. It really wasn't difficult, and I love the coordination of all my spice bottles now. Good luck everyone!
